I Sell the Dead (2008)

I Sell the Dead (2008) — Funny and clever but it struggles with one big problem.  This is a high budget concept on a low budget.  Now horror is a genre that can be done well with very little money but period films generally require something in the way of production value.  There is a lot of humor (or I guess humour, being British and all) and the film mostly succeeds on Dominic Monaghan’s likability and charisma.  A plot twist is easy to see a mile away.  Ron Perlman does an absolutely horrendous Irish accent.  It’s amusing.  Check it out in a few months when it’s on TV (I saw it OnDemand, but I wouldn’t particularly recommend paying for it).
