A Serious Man (2009)

A Serious Man (2009) — I found a lot of this film to be quite funny but in the end it didn’t really work for me.  Things just didn’t seem to come together.  This was most likely intentional on the part of the Coens who have made some great movies where things rather intentionally did not come together.  But in movies like The Big Lebowski and Burn After Reading it worked for me and in A Serious Man it didn’t.  At a certain point in the movie a rabbi tells the hapless protagonist a story that ends up having no point, much to the ire of the protagonist.  This movie felt kind of like that to me.  There was no point.  Which was the point.  I just didn’t care that much.  But there were laughs (if you have a VERY dry sense of humor) so whatever.
