Clash of the Titans (1981)

Clash of the Titans (1981) — There is unabashedly loving a movie and there is being able to intellectually defend that love and they don’t always intersect.  Watching Clash of the Titans on Blu Ray I see how a lot of the effects don’t quite hold up and some of the acting is pretty hammy.  I don’t care.  Loved this movie when i was a kid.  Love it now.  I like stop motion even when it has that jerky sort of fake-looking movement.  Ray Harryhausen’s creations always take me back to that childlike state of wonder at all the magic of the movies.  I’m sure the Louis Letterier remake will have vastly superior effects but I doubt it will have the heart.  But hey, I’ve always been a sucker for Greek mythology.
