Predators (2010)

Predators (2010) — Finally! This is the first Predator sequel that actually lives up to the potential of the franchise (still not as good as the first one though). It’s definitely got flaws (Adrian Brody as a badass?) but nothing that isn’t made up for by the awesomeness of predators hunting and killing people in the jungle again. Respect for the source material has yielded a decent movie! Let that be a lesson for movie executive (they won’t learn… plus almost every time I like an action movie it ends up tanking at the box office). The plot is a mercenary (Brody), a sniper (Alice Braga from City of God), a death row inmate (Walton Goggins from The Shield and Justified), a African death squad dude (Mahershalalhashbaz Ali from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), a Yakuza hitman (Louis Ozawa Changchien), a Spetsnaz dude (Oleg Taktarov from 15 Minutes), a drug cartel enforcer (Machete himself, Danny Trejo), and for some reason a doctor (Topher Grace). The idea is to hunt the biggest killers from Earth. So as you might guess, people get killed. Also there’s a bugfuck insane Laurence Fishburne. Anyway film-maker and noted fanboy Robert Rodrqiuez wrote and produced a movie that fanboys would want to see so by all means go see it. Soundtrack Note: Over the end credits the up tempo song “Long Tall Sally” by Little Richard plays. I heard someone say “did they just pick some random song?” and laughing with his friends. The same song was in the 1987 film predator before Arnold, Carl, Jesse & Co. parachute into South America. It is presumably included as some kind of homage.
