Due Date (2010)

Due Date (2010) — This movie doesn’t break any new ground.  In fact it’s pretty much Planes, Trains & Automobiles with Robert Downey Jr. and Zack Galifianakis replacing Steve Martin and the late John Candy (and none of that Christmas stuff).  But fuck originality, it works.  I laughed heartily from beginning to end and that’s really the only standard anyone should hold a comedy to.  The movies mostly a two-man show but there are great bit parts by Michelle Monaghan, Jamie Foxx, Juliette Lewis, and Danny McBride (!).  With the same director and star I’m sure everyone compare this movie to The Hangover and by that comparison the movie comes up a bit short but it’s funny so who cares.  There are a few of the “emotional” moments that don’t quite connect but the things that do work far outweigh any of the stuff that doesn’t.
