Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010) – As I see it, there were two main factors in splitting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows into two parts. The first is that fans of the books (full disclosure, I’ve never read any of them) had been complaining about the things left out of previous books due to time constraints. The second and far more important factor is that Warner Brothers wanted to squeeze every last penny out of this cash cow of a franchise. I say the second factor is more relevant because 1) that’s just the way the world works and 2) this movie really doesn’t have enough going on to sustain its length. Also tell me why David O’Hara is in this movie and he doesn’t talk? (Or rather talks in Daniel Radcliffe’s voice) O’Hara has a great voice. That’s why he gets roles. Not so much here. This movie does have some humor and some action but there are long stretches that take themselves way too seriously where nothing much happens. Highlight of the film for me was an animated sequence with really cool style telling some old wizard fairy tale. The main problem with this movie though is that they were stretching, and it shows.
