Winnie the Pooh (2011)

Winnie the Pooh (2011) – Man oh man, this movie just made me happy. When I was a little kid I used to love watching The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh every Saturday morning. I love that as the head of Disney’s animation department, John Lasseter is trying to bring back traditional 2D animation. I love that he resurrected one of my childhood favorite. If you have an inner child see this movie. I don’t understand why Disney didn’t publicize this more. I knew about it for a while because Craig Ferguson (who voices Owl) mentioned it a few times on his talk show, but I barely saw any advertisements for this until the week it opened. Some of the cast has changed due to the actors moving on (or passing on) but Jim Cummings is back as Pooh and John Cleese takes over as narrator, and all the new actors sound pretty much like the old ones so I’m fine with it. The film features songs by singer/actress Zooey Deschanel, who brings the light and playful tone of her music to a movie that has alight and playful tone. This movie made me feel like a kid again, and I always appreciate that.
