Transformers (2007)

Transformers (2007) — I saw this in theaters a couple years ago and I must have been in a bad mood or something because I didn’t like it much.  I liked the robots fighting but the rest just left me cold.  I saw a good chunk of it on HBO a few months ago and it was a lot more entertaining than I remembered.  Anyway my dad wanted to see it before seeing the new one so we rented and I really enjoyed it.  Giant robots fighting and fucking up a city while they do it is always cool and this time around I actually found a lot of humor in it.  I’m still not sure why a movie about robot wars needs to revolve around a teenager trying to score with a supermodel but whatever.  Maybe I’m more forgiving of the plot holes now or maybe just wound less tightly or something.  I think pointing out the various plot inconsistencies actually made me enjoy it a little more.  I don’t know.  But I like it.
